Bakawali Kembang Dini Hari

Bakawali Harum Dini Hari

Burung pungguk tunduk terkedu
Bakawali harum di dalam taman
Adik terduduk menahan rindu
Bulan mengambang di tapak tangan

Bakawali harum di dalam taman
Sayang layu di sinar mega
Bulan mengambang di tapak tangan
Bintang gugur di kelopak mata

Sayang layu disinar mega
Sinar naik ke tengahari
Bintang gugur di kelopak mata
Mentari menusuk ke sanubari

Bak mutiara suci…

The Owl and The Moonflower

The Owl sits alone and winsome
And the Moonflower blushes at dawn
The lady waits with unabated passion
She grasps the moon tightly like a thorn

The Moonflower blushes at dawn
Gently kissed by the sun afar
She grasps the moon tightly like a thorn
And her tears fall like bewitching stars

Gently kissed by the sun afar
The Moonflower is evolving
As her tears fall like bewitching stars
The sun envelopes her awakening

Like an oyster opening
Revealing a brilliant pearl…

now.. bulan mengambang ditapak tangan

Di tapak tangan --selalu dikaitkan dengan rindu dendam yang ...

cukup menarik.. penuh makna..
rindu.. tangisan(kelopak mata).. harum => layu.. tusukan ke sanubari

bagi saya lah
indah dan sangat sayu (menghiris perasaan?)..

Saudara Wan Sharif,

Di tapak tangan - in the palm of my hands - selalu dikaitkan dengan hasrat hati (doa)-'deepest wish or prayers' atau hak milik - ownership.

Again, failure to dissect a poem or pantun is a norm for me. The poetry usually takes me over and I become just the scribe who writes it all down.

Honestly,
The fact that you are pursuing.. blogging it is very good enough for me..
understanding it.. interpreting it will take some serious effort..
I would like to continue to put up what I understand of your pantun and seloka as comments.. if that is all right with you..
Now you have enlightened me with .. doa, milik.. Oh it so fascinate me.. your take on the word "di tapak tangan"
Thank you for your effort to keep our "PUSAKA dan WARISAN BANGSA" alive.. for stirring that long gone feeling for pantun, seloka, peribahasa, hikayat and all..

Thank you for your educational reply on my blog! Though I don't know the words, I can see some of the patterns in your poems. I've studied Japanese and Spanish poetry before. In both languages, rhyming is too easy to be valued in poetry. I'm glad to see that rhyme patterns are not solely English. Of course, there is plenty of beauty without rhyme, too. Your photos are also lovely!

Dear T,

How lovely for you to drop by my Malay poetry blog. You can't imagine how happy I am that you are here.

Yes Haiku and other forms of poetry around the world open up a new world - a different way of elegant expression. I enjoy Ilakya's of rhythmofthesoul's blog - she shares all sorts of different forms of poetry - I am amazed by all forms there are.

Once again, thank you T.
